The ability to produce quality replacement parts for Aerospace and Defense systems and commercial components are significantly impacted by lost or inadequate documentation, engineering data, company closures; and/or a rapidly retiring workforce. By integrating SIS's digital imaging technologies with high-end CAD modeling and design software, SIS provides the ideal first stage solution for generating technical data packages that link directly into digital fabrication and computer-aided manufacturing. OptiCAM™ (Optical generation of 3D models for Computer Aided Manufacturing) is a reverse engineering solution that is sponsored by Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA). The CTMA program is a joint Department of Defense/National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (DoD/NCMS) effort promoting collaborative technology development between industry and the DoD maintenance and repair facilities. The DoD participants for OptiCAM are Tinker AFB, Tobyhanna Army Depot, FRC East, PHNSY, PSNS, PNS, NNSY and USCG. OptiCAM integrates off-the-shelf hardware with enterprise-level engineering design and collaboration software to achieve a system solution, which generates digital 3D models for input into manufacturing processes for prototypes, first-run parts, and replacement parts. |
